Sacramento CA: Before the Sacramento Valley Velodrome Association, racing enthusiasts had the option of driving to San Jose to go to Hellyer, or being content to watch track bicycle racing down J street in rush hour. While they are still working on raising capital to build a velodrome in the capitol city, SacValleyVelodrome.org has waisted no time in gathering a lot of attention at their Savage Sprints roller races. Competitors go head to head on stationary track bikes mounted on rollers. Speeds and times are displayed on a screen behind them for the cheering crowd. To get their website up and running quickly, SacValleyVelodrome.org called on Foxyea.com Web Media for a Digital Special that would help them communicate with their racers and race goers, while building a mailing list and gathering donations.
Reno NV: Over the weekend community media enthusiasts from all over the western United States, along with a few from the east, gathered in Reno Nevada for the Alliance for Community Media Western Region Conference. The ACM West oversees the prestigious WAVE Awards, which are awarded to Community Access television and film producers for their work in a wide range of categories. Along with the award ceremony, the conference hosts workshops on a variety of community media related topics. This year, Kristian Manoff from Foxyea Web Media spoke at two of the workshops in which AccessLocal.TV Beta was featured. Along with WordPress MU, Buddypress and VideoPress, the workshops also covered Miro
Community, a great way to aggregate video from multiple web sources into a single RSS Media feed. Another popular topic of the conference was the emergence of Neighborhood News as a way to incorporate citizen reporting into community media centers the way that Access Sacramento is doing with their Neighborhood News Bureaus program. Development is underway for the next release of AccessLocal.TV, which will continue to bring together all of these technologies and concepts into a Hyper-Local focused web media system.
Techleader.TV and Foxyea.com go way back. For those that don’t know, TechLeader.TV is an interview format news show, hosted by John Thomas Flynn. Currently in their fourth season, Flynn interviews State of California Technology buyers, in effort to give employees and vendors the inside scoop on the mysterious budgetary movements of California State Agencies. This site is a great example of a Foxyea Digital Special. We start with WordPress and a professional theme, and we work in custom design elements and advertising blocks to accomplish the desired site. We also worked closely with the TechLeader.TV production crew to integrate live playback, and Video On Demand, making the site a great platform for sponsorship and communicating with viewers.
